Charity to launch concussion campaign to target local sports clubs
A brain injury charity is asking local sports clubs to ‘be concussion aware’ as part of a new national campaign launched this month, May.
Headway UK, which supports local people affected by brain injury, will launch the Concussion Aware campaign during Action for Brain Injury Week, which takes place from 9-15 May.

Conference to shine spotlight on brain injury
A first of its kind conference which aims to raise awareness of the reality of living with a brain injury and the support available will take place in Lancaster in June.
The Brain Injury Conference, ‘Invisibly Different’, which will also raise much needed funds for Headway Lancaster and Morecambe Bay, will take place at Lancaster House Hotel in Lancaster on June 17 and 18.

Family lawyer relocates to head up department
A family law specialist with more than 20 years’ experience will head up the family division at Birchall Blackburn Law’s Southport office when she relocates this month.
Sally Abrams, who first joined the North West law firm in 1996, will become the head of family law at the office in Cambridge Road.

Action Mesothelioma Day 2016
The annual Action Mesothelioma Day raises awareness and pays tribute to people suffering with the asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma. This year, it is being held on Friday 1st July across the country.
The UK has the world’s highest rate of mesothelioma, with more than 2,500 people diagnosed with the condition each year – and this number is increasing.

A Rio 2016 Paralympics hopeful has been recognised after scooping an award from a national charity.
Wheelchair basketball player, Ashleigh Harris, who became spinal cord injured at the age of 14, was presented with the ‘Inspirational Achievement Award for Young People’ at the Spinal Injuries Association’s Rebuilding Lives Awards ceremony.

Each year in Manchester, and cities across the country, people join together to raise awareness of mesothelioma, remember and honour the victims and promote an Action Mesothelioma Charter. The Charter includes a call for speedy and accurate diagnosis for sufferers, good quality treatment, funding of research into mesothelioma and for employers to provide safe working environments.↧

A law firm has rocked-up to rescue the music equipment needed for live bands welcoming big-hearted bikers on the last stop of The Great Brain Ride.
Bikers for Neuro (BFN) is set to raise thousands of pounds for The Brain Charity during its annual sponsored motorbike ride between Liverpool and Chester on Saturday, July 30.

Birchall Blackburn Law makes two senior promotions
North West law firm, Birchall Blackburn Law, has made two senior promotions in the conveyancing department at its Manchester office.
Stacey Ashe has been promoted to Partner and Rachel Buckley has been promoted to Senior Associate Conveyancer.
31-year-old Stacey joined Birchall Blackburn in 2007 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2011, she has worked across a number of the firm’s offices in conveyancing, foreign property and private client fields and more recently she has headed up the Client Services Team.

Housing market stabilises after post-Brexit wobble
The housing market has ‘bounced back’ following initial uncertainty in the days after the EU referendum, says a residential property law expert.
Michael Foxford, partner at Birchall Blackburn Law, said that it’s business as usual for house buyers across the North West and the demand in conveyancing is the same as before the vote.

Solicitor becomes a champion for Dementia Friends programme
A specialist solicitor has been named as a Dementia Friends Champion – as part of a nationwide initiative to improve understanding of the condition and create four million Dementia Friends by 2020.
Rebecca Minto, of Preston-based Birchall Blackburn Law, specialises in all aspects of Wills, tax planning and probate and has joined the Alzheimer’s Society scheme to try and make a difference to people living with Dementia.
